
Tim Blackburn
Consultant Oral Maxillo- Facial and Facial Plastic Surgeon, Manchester Royal Infirmary
Tim is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary, where he has worked since 2008. He specialises in head and neck oncology with microvascular reconstruction, as well as facial reanimation surgery. He is a member of several multidisciplinary teams, including the Facial Palsy service for both children and adults. He served as Clinical Director for the Maxillofacial Unit from 2013 to 2017.
Tim qualified in both medicine (1998) and dentistry (1991) at King’s College London with four distinctions and three prizes. He completed basic surgical training in London and higher surgical training in Liverpool. He has more than 20 publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
He serves as an examiner for the exit examination in oral and maxillofacial surgery for the JCIE and was awarded the Gold Medal in 2006 for achieving the highest marks. He is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the Facial Palsy UK charity and is the subspecialty group lead for BAOMS in both aesthetic surgery and facial reanimation.
Tim also has a private practice in facial cosmetic surgery at Spire Cheshire Hospital. He is a board member of the Intercollegiate Cosmetic Surgery Board as the BAOMS representative and is co‑opted as a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for Spire Cheshire Hospital.
