RCS England Advisor and NED to the Future of Surgery Innovation Hub

With 29 years' experience as a healthcare operator, Marcus has worked across numerous clinical environments including 21 years of military clinical leadership in the RAF with nine operational tours. He is a respected leader who has managed emergency medical teams from all three Armed Services and received UK State recognition for his efforts.

A natural innovator, Marcus established and served as COO of the MOD’s first medical innovation team—JhubMed. This high-performing team introduced life-saving technologies into Defence Medical Services at unprecedented pace, work that earned Marcus an OBE in 2021. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he advised senior civil servants and politicians on medical crisis management whilst reviewing over 300 MedTech innovations.

Marcus is Non-Executive Director of the Royal College of Surgeons of England Innovation Hub, a role through which he champions innovation adoption in surgical practice. He is also a mentor and assessor for the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur programme and NHS Innovation Accelerator, and lectures at Oxford University. Marcus regularly works with charities providing crisis medical support and MedTech advice. He regularly presents at international medical conferences, advocating for compassionate leadership, innovation, and technology adoption in healthcare.
