Dr Giuseppe Mainas graduated in 2014 in Madrid (Spain) and completed the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP)-accredited programme in Periodontology at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain) in 2020, passing the EFP board exam the same year.
He went on to obtain a PhD in Clinical Dentistry Research, focusing on Periodontology, at King’s College London (United Kingdom), where he also works as a part-time Research Associate. His research centres on periodontal–systemic links, particularly the association between diet and periodontitis, with the aim of identifying adjunct strategies to modulate local and systemic inflammation.
Alongside his academic work, he practises as a Periodontist and Implantologist in private practice.
Dr Giuseppe Mainas is a certified member of the Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP) and part of its young members’ section, a member of the Early Career Group of the British Society of Periodontology (BSP), and a specialist member of the Spanish Society of Periodontology (SEPA).
He is the author of several national and international peer-reviewed articles and has received small research grants and scholarships from the MRC, Osteology Foundation, BSP, and the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FDS).
