Deborah Eastwood

RCS England Council Member, Consulant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital

As a medical student, I was fascinated by growth and function, which led me to specialise in paediatric orthopaedic surgery.

I enjoy clinical work, research and teaching, and I remain a committed trainer despite current challenges. I am a past president of both the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society and the British Orthopaedic Association, and I am the current president of the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance. I am also a member of the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

I enjoy writing and have contributed to numerous book chapters and authored many scientific papers.

As President of the BOA in 2023, I helped develop and maintain innovative and sustainable approaches to training, research and clinical care, with diversity, inclusion and equity at the centre of our plans. All of these depend on engagement, and I continue to pursue these priorities and aim to make a difference.

In my spare time, I enjoy London life.
