Atanu Pal

Atanu Pal is a consultant surgeon at Cambridge University Hospitals, where he performs
robotic colorectal surgery. He studied medicine at Cambridge University. During his training,
he gained research experience at Brigham and Women’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School,
Boston, USA, and further experience in Christchurch, New Zealand. He speaks at
international conferences on robotic surgery, colorectal surgery, and human factors, and
publishes regularly in high impact journals. As a recreational pilot, he has flown in the UK
and abroad, and uses the aviation-surgery analogy as a lens into human factors in robotic
surgery. He runs to stay fit (occasionally running marathons!).
