Shabnam Undre

Consultant Paediatric Urologist , East and North Herts NHS Trust

Miss Shabnam Undre started with ENHT on the 1st of March 2015 as a Consultant Paediatric Urologist. Miss Undre completed her urology training on the North-West London rotation and a post CCT fellowship in paediatric Urology at Great Ormond Street. She is currently the Head of children's clinical services in the women and children division at ENHT.

Miss Undre completed a PhD titled “team work in the operating theatre” and has carried on her work in the field after being awarded the PhD in 2007. She has published extensively on the subject and related patient safety topics and presented her work at national and international conferences. She continues to be active in the field of patient safety and has been involved in research regarding WHO checklists and team briefing for surgery. She has published and presented extensively on a range of topics from Urology to Patient Safety and Teamwork (45 peer reviewed papers, 7 book chapters and 50 Presentations). She is also working on a National campaign “save the ball” to create awareness regarding testicular health in boys and was on the specialist advisory group for recently published the NCEPOD testicular Torsion report ‘Twist and Shout’.  Miss Undre was an associate on the European Urology guidelines committee for Paediatric Urology and is the Paediatric Representative for the British Association of Urological Surgeons.

Miss Undre is actively involved in teaching and training and runs the paediatric Urology teaching as well as several exam preparation courses for Paediatric urology. Miss Undre is also part of the Quality Assurance team at the RCS England and is a mentor for aspiring surgeons.
