
Asit Arora
Robotic Head and Neck Consultant Surgeon, Senior Clinical Lecturer, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Kings College London
Mr Asit Arora is an ENT Thyroid Head and Neck Consultant Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation NHS Trust leading one of the largest Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) programs in Europe. He pioneered TORS in the UK as part of his PhD awarded from Imperial College London in 2015 and has mentored over 15 Head & Neck surgical teams in the UK and Europe. He is a proctor for Intuitive Surgical, a preceptor for CMR surgical and serves on its Clinical Advisory Board.
Asit is a Senior Lecturer at King's College London supervising a PhD program within the department of Surgical and Interventional Engineering. He remains at the forefront of clinical innovation having performed the first TORS case with the Versius robotic system in 2022.
He co-founded the Global Tracheostomy Collaborative in 2011 leading its education committee and was an advisor to ENT-UK guiding best practice in tracheostomy during the Covid pandemic. Asit has authored textbooks in Thyroid & Parathyroid Disease and Robotic Head & Neck Surgery and is the founder and co-director of several postgraduate courses including the internationally renowned London Head & Neck Dissection course established in 2006. His extensive clinical, research, education and training experience include over 70 peer-reviewed publications, numerous book chapters and invited national/international lectures. His grant awards total £1.5 million to date with numerous research awards including from the Royal Society of Medicine, NIHR, Health Foundation, the Medical Research Council and the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons.
